A story of family and the search
Back in 2003 while attending culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, I met a beautiful girl named Laura. We shared our passion for food and traveling and would plan trips based on where we wanted to eat. Given that Laura was from the Rio Grande Valley we spent a lot of time looking for those hidden gems there. Whether it was for the best el pastor taco, the juiciest carnitas, or traditional barbacoa, there was always talk of what's next?
Saffron Sierra Provisions are a team of chefs dedicated to the art of fermentation and handmade cuisine. We blend tradition with creativity to bring bold, living flavors to the table. Specializing in fermented foods—from bold lacto fermented hot sauces to classic tart sauerkraut, and everything in between - we celebrate the transformative power of time and technique. Alongside our small-batch creations, we also host hands-on dumpling cooking classes, where folks learn to fold, fill, and savor these beloved bites. Rooted in community and curiosity, our mission is simple: to share knowledge, nourish connection, and inspire a deeper appreciation for food crafted with care.
